Seior 1b Maltese trifle practical

Dear senior 1b students,

You did really really well during the practical. Most of you showed excellent cooking and organisational skills, you worked really well in a team and did a great presentation. Well done ๐Ÿ™‚ Those of you who felt weak on the presentation of your dish, we will work on it ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here are the photos.

Senior 5 SEC Practical 2

Dear Senior 5 students,

the following are the dates for your second SEC practical.

7th December – Preparation Sheet. Get with you the recipes of the dishes and the drinks which would be suitable for the possible scenarios.

14th December – Practical. You will cook the meal that you have chosen in your preparation sheet. Remember to get the apron, all the ingredients for your meal and drink, tea towels and decoration items.

18th December – Evaluation. You will complete the Evaluation on the Preparation Sheet.

Some possible scenarios for your practical include:

1. A pregnant woman
2. Someone who suffers of high blood pressure (also known as hypertension)
3. School-aged children
4. Vegetarians (lacto vegetarian and lacto-ovo vegetarian)
5. Someone suffering of constipation or diverticular disease (so you need to have a meal high in fibre)
6. An athlete or someone very active. (so get recipes high in carbohydrates e.g. pasta)
7. Someone who is overweight or obese thus needs to follow a slimming diet. (E.g. a dish with chicken or fish would be ideal)
8. Someone who suffers of heart disease / CHD.
9. Someone who is diabetic.
10. Someone who is lactose intolerant (no milk or dairy)
11. Someone who is coeliac (no wheat products)
12. Someone who has a sedentary job (always sitting down e.g. secretary โ€“ So no food high in carbs as they do not use a lot of energy)
13. Elderly people

Senior 1B Christmas Costume

Dear parents and students,

for our item of the Christmas concert it was decided that:

a. the girls will wear black leggings (make sure they are not see-through please), a plain black long sleeved shirt and a rainbow tutu which I will be doing myself for the students.

b. the boys will wear black trousers/jeans and a plain black long sleeved shirt. I will be providing them with a coloured tie to match the girls’ tutu.

Happy weekend

Ms. Edera

Senior 2A Practical

Dear students,

as you know, on Monday 20th November, the first group of students will have their pasta/rice practical. I would appreciate if you could get a small pot and a frying pan (if you need it for your meal) as there aren’t enough for everyone in the Home Ec room. The new equipment will be purchased later on in the upcoming week.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience.

Senior 1B Maltese Trifle Practical

Dear Senior 1B students,

as I have explained during the lesson, next week you will have your first practical which is the Maltese trifle. The practical will be on Thursday 23rd November.

On the day of the practical make sure to get:

a. the preparation sheet (leave out the evaluation)

b. the apron

c. the ingredients for the trifle โ€“ you need to decide with your partner /group who is going to get which ingredients. Regarding the sponge, in the demonstration I used two sponges and not one, as listed in your booklet. So you might want to get two as wellย  instead of one sponge cake.

d. decoration items โ€“ you need to lay the table. You can get a table cloth, a table mat, some flowers etc.

e. a dish which is a bit deep so as to layer the trifle in it. You might want to make two small trifles, rather than a big one. I will leave it up to you.

f. a lunchbox to carry the trifle in it. Especially if you are making a big one which has to be divided between two.

g. two tea towels to dry the dishes.
