Dear senior 3 students,

today I have issued the first Assignment. Please note that next Monday we will continue working on Task 1. The deadline for Assignment 1 Task 1 is the 10th November.

Dear senior 4 students,

Hospitality Unit 2 K2 Homework

Dear students,

this is the homework task for K2. This homework will be collected on the 30th October.

Task: Create a poster to highlight the important points to prevent food poisoning. Do a summary of the main points that we discussed during the lesson.

To include in the poster: 1. cross-contamination; 2. storage methods; 3. labelling; 4. correct cooking.

Senior 3 Home Ec Soya Burgers

Dear senior 3 students,

Here is the recipe of the soya burgers which we made in class.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 cups textured vegetable protein (dehydrated soy)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • ¼ cup grated carrots
  • ¼ cup finely chopped celery
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onions
  • 3 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • ½ cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1/3 cup plain flour

Method:

  1. Stir TVP into boiling water, in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, herbs and spices.
  3. Let stand for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat carrots, celery, onions, garlic and basil in a little oil, until softened.
  5. Mix vegetables into TVP mixture, slowly adding flour until the mixture holds its own shape.
  6. Shape into six patties. Try wetting your hands with a bit of water when shaping the patties to prevent it from sticking.
  7. Cook in a frying pan in a little oil until both sides harden up and darken.
  8. Put in a bun and serve with a fresh salad!

Senior 1B Home Ec Group

Dear students,

here is the recipe of the apple crisp which we did in class. Enjoy baking!

Ingredients:

6 apples

2 tablespoons white sugar

½ teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup brown sugar

¾ cup oats

¾ cup plain flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ cup cold margarine

Method:

1.Pre-heat the oven to 175C.

2.Mix apples with white sugar and ½ tsp cinnamon. Pour into a dish.

3.Mix brown sugar, oats, flour and cinnamon in a separate bowl. Rub-in the  margarine into the mixture.

4.Bake for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.
