Today is World Heart Day and I would like to share with you a few tips on how to follow a balanced diet and lifestyle in order to reduce the risk of suffering of heart disease later on in life.
1. Try to follow the Mediterranean diet – our ancestors had a better cure than modern cholesterol-lowering pills. Make use of fruits and vegetables, nuts, fish, beans, legumes and olive oil. Try to cut down on junk food, red meat, eggs and butter.
2. Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes – We are all busy, but try to make an effort!
3. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol
4. Enjoy your life – get out, get in touch with nature, meditate, laugh and find ways to take the edge off your stress!
